Spy Out the Land

One of the most exciting and frustrating things that you can do is scout
out the area where you will plant a church. Give yourself some time (a
couple of days is possible) to drive around the town, go shopping (your
wife will love that), go to the grocery stores, go to schools, talk to real
estate agents, peruse the newspapers and listen to any local radio
stations. By doing this you will quickly become aware of the costs of
living in the area and what is will cost to move into a home. Keep a list
of the statistics. When asked how much it will cost for you to live, you
will give an accurate accounting. By the way, the Chamber of Commerce
information may be helpful but ours was two years out of touch with the
local economy. God will provide but many fears and aprehensions will be
eliminated for you and your family by "spying out the land."
